Introduction

Following our 20th anniversary in October 2022, we are proud to formally introduce United Institute as the overarching brand for our parent institution. United Institute is made up of two constituent schools, United International Business Schools (UIBS) and European College for Liberal Studies (ECLS).

UIBS and ECLS have operated alongside each other since 2015 when ECLS programs were introduced across the existing UIBS campus network. Both schools have maintained full operational integration since, and are separate by name and programs only. The institution’s two constituent schools will continue to organize their own distinct set of programs, only now tied to a common overarching institutional brand.

Strategy

This introduction reflects our commitment to providing our students with a consistent and memorable educational experience and to offering them access to a wide range of programs across multiple disciplines. Our common identity highlights our united academic community, making clear to prospective students the kind of community they will join and the kind of community that our alumni will always remain part of.

This partial rebranding was initiated by the pursuit of institutional accreditation within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), which has led us to rethink our organizational structure. This in turn has highlighted the need for a cohesive approach across both schools and their respective programs. United Institute is a reflection of the shared history, vision, mission and values of its constituent schools and campus network as we move forward together as one truly multi-disciplinary private higher education institution.

Logo

The institutional logo symbolizes the progression and ambitions of our students individually and in group, the strength and continuous evolution of our institution, and the importance of its constituent schools. It is an expression of who we are as a united academic community.

The top chevron represents individual students growing professionally, and the overarching institution that allows its constituent schools to reach further than they would separately. The intertwined chevrons represent group learning opportunities, the integration of schools within the institution, flexible study programs, as well as the Alpine landscape at the institution’s HQ in Switzerland. The 4 chevrons also refer to the 4 levels of education organized by the institution according to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).

Our two constituent schools will also see the introduction of a refreshed logo, depicting a ram and laurels respectively for UIBS and ECLS.
